Our Academy
Mission
The mission of The Ervin Academy is to provide programs and services that are academically rigorous, character and socially developmental to ensure an increase in the number of male high school graduates. Each student will be equipped with the skills necessary to have an opportunity to pursue a college education, post secondary training, or pursue a professional career with the technical and soft skills necessary to be competitive in today’s employment and business market.
Our Curriculum
- Will enable students to receive a college preparatory high school diploma. A GED diploma is also available.
- Mirrors the approved state of Georgia public school system’s curriculum and will include the Orton Gilliam reading program for students who are not reading at grade level.
- Includes 9th through 12th grade English, Language Arts, Math, Science and Physical Education courses.
- The electives include Modern Languages, Health, Computer Science, Carpentary and various other courses.
- The Life Skills course includes the following subject matter: etiquette training, personal and business financial management, public speaking, time management and organization training to ensure personal and professional success.
- Franklin Covey’s “Seven Habits of Highly Effective Teens™” course will support and reinforce each student taking responsibility for their lives and actions, teach them how to define their life’s goals and mission, develop prioritization skills, explain the importance of having a “winning” attitude, the importance of teamwork, the value of listening and to constantly seek to improve oneself in all areas.
The Ervin Environment
Uniform Dress Code
Students are required to wear the Academy navy blue jackets, white collar shirts, blue tie, brown khaki pants and brown/black shoes. Staff and faculty are required to wear brown khaki pants and the Academy white collar shirt along with brown/black shoes.Communication Standards
Each student, faculty and staff member will greet the other by utilizing their “sir” names. (i.e. Mrs., Mr. and Ms.)What Makes Us Different
